We have set the highest standards in terms of quality assurance, monitoring and evaluating our performance, for the improvement in all aspects of Safety, Health and Environment Management.
We also have a dedicated department for Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) at SAGT. The department is accountable for ensuring nothing less than the highest health and safety practises are followed in the day to day operations of the terminals. At SAGT, we have also developed standardised procedures and proactive safety features to handle specialised operations with maximum efficiency.
We have a culture that makes safety, a priority in all our operations, which is a vital contributing factor to our success. SAGT continuously strives to improve standards and performance in terms of safety. We constantly work on reducing operational hazards and risks through failsafe risk management systems.
Here’s what we do to ensure that we meet our objectives on Safety, Environment and Health.
Annual reviews are done on the Health, Safety and Environment policies.
Annually review and document Health, Safety and Environment risks associated with the business and implement action plans to minimize these risks. Additional and special emphasis will be given to controlling the hazards that represent the greatest potential for fatal injury known as the “Fatal 5”.
Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, legislation and where applicable best industry practice and standards. Strive to achieve compliance with all aspects of ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.
Audit Health, Safety and Environment management system in order to assess the effectiveness of existing practices and document implementation of recommendations at least once a year.
Provide appropriate Health, Safety and Environmental training for staff at all levels.
Ensure Health, Safety and Environmental implications are considered when making any investment decisions and implement the best commercially viable techniques consistent with this policy.
Ensure effective reporting, investigation, documentation and remediation of incidents in accordance with applicable regulations, legislation and the management system.
Encourage partners, contractors and suppliers to achieve comparable Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
Consult and interact openly with customers, external parties, local communities and other interested stakeholders.
Submit annual reports on all Health, Safety and Environmental matters in accordance with applicable regulations, legislation and the management system.
