December 27, 2022

South Asia Gateway Terminals (PVT) Ltd (SAGT), Sri Lanka’s first public private partnership container terminal joined hands with Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT) Global to celebrate WiLAT Global 10th Anniversary with the publication “Spreading our Wings”.

WiLAT, was launched globally by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) in June 2013 with the aim of growing and promoting the role of women in the supply chain, logistics and transport industries. Over the years WiLAT has become a powerful voice promoting diversity and inclusion within these industries and has a membership of over 3,250 members representing 37 territories around the world.

In celebration of its proud 10-year history, WiLAT global published “Spreading our Wings” and launched the publication in Perth, Australia in October 2022, alongside CILT’s annual international conference. The publication documents WiLAT’s journey over the years, pays tribute to the forerunners who have been instrumental in WiLAT’s success and outlines the organisation’s future aspirations.

The publication was officially handed over to SAGT’s Chief Executive Officer, Romesh David and Chief Commercial Officer, Ted Muttiah, by the WiLAT Global Chairperson Gayani De Alwis at SAGTs offices in the Port of Colombo.

A strong proponent of equality and diversity as part of its core values, SAGT actively promotes opportunities for women to step into unconventional roles and “spread their wings” within the industry and has done so over the years. SAGT’s support towards “Spreading our Wings” reaffirms the company’s commitment to promote equal opportunities and a diverse work culture, within an industry that is still lagging in terms of female representation.

Commenting on the publication, Romesh David, CEO of SAGT stated that “SAGT is honoured to have the opportunity to celebrate WiLAT’s journey and witness its mission bear fruit within the global logistics and transportation industry.”
