Job profile:
We are looking for a dedicated individual to coordinate, manage and streamline the import clearance process. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient communication and coordination between internal and external stakeholders, including Internal Departments, Customers, Sri Lanka Customs, and Sri Lanka Ports Authority. The role requires attention to detail in managing container clearance, monitoring costs, and facilitating decision-making through accurate reporting.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with IT, customers and relevant stakeholders to resolve all online issues related to the import clearance process.
- The process involves monitoring and reporting on SLC (Sri Lanka Customs) detention and seized containers, SLPA – transferred containers, cargo destruction, and storage concessions, there by providing vital information to management for informed decision- making.
- Coordinate with the shipping line and relevant stakeholders to accelerate the clearance process for long-standing, uncleared units.
- Perform a precise calculation of progressive demurrage fees, adhering to the shipping line’s tiered rate structure and the elapsed storage period.
- Coordinating with external customers, including Sri Lanka Customs and Sri Lanka Ports Authority, as well as internal customers in SAGT’s Finance, IT and Operations department to ensure the needs of all parties are met.
Candidate Profiles:
- Passed G.C.E (O/L) Examination with minimum 06 credit passes including English and Mathematics in not more than two sittings.
- Passed G.C.E (A/L) Examination with minimum 03 credit passes for core subjects in not more than two sittings.
- Have completed certificate course in Logistics/ Maritime or Accounting from a recognized institution would be an added advantage.
- Have a minimum of 05 years of experience in a similar capacity.
- Have excellent computer literacy with working experience in computerized financial accounting systems.
- Be willing to work on a Roster/Shift basis.
