Terminal Engineering Assistant
Job profile:
Ensure all assigned works are executed in a safe and correct manner, according to the companies policies for HSE and legal requirements.
Undertake electrical / electronic / PLC / mechanical / hydraulic / pneumatic repairs and refurbishment to the required standard.
Conduct regular planned maintenance as requested.
Undertake electrical / electronic / mechanical / fabrication / welding work as required.
Work with Electrical/ Mechanical Technicians whenever required to do so.
Record details of work completed, purchase requisitions, stores requisitions and other workshop documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
Operate the safety “Tag Out” system.
Liaise with and assist providers of specialist electrical/ electronic/ mechanical support services, for example, contractors and suppliers.
Upgrade electrical circuitry drawings to reflect modifications/ additions.
Assist with cargo care as requested.
Operate all types of equipment (QC, RTG, PM, TT, Manlift, Forklift etc.) and auxiliary systems (Substations, Fire pumps, Water pumps, Sewer Treatment etc.) within the terminal as required.
It is mandatory to obtain internal driving license for each equipment.
Work in indoor/ outdoor environments at job sites.
Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams, hydraulic diagrams and understand the use of tools and measuring instruments.
Other tasks as directed by management.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Successfully completed NVQ Level 5 or equivalent qualification in Mechatronics/ Electrical/Electronic from a reputed technical institute.
Passed G.C.E. (A/L) examination in Mathematics/ Technology subjects with three (03) passes including at least a simple pass for English language in G.C.E. (O/L).
Thorough knowledge and experience in Electro- Mechanical systems and programming SIEMENS/ YASAKAWA PLCs, Drives.
Ability to read and understand manuals, Engineering drawings and electrical and hydraulic circuit diagrams.
Minimum three (03) years of experience in the relevant field.
Experience in Container handling equipment maintenance requirements.
Previous experience in electrical and mechanical procedures in a workshop and/or industrial environment.
An understanding and appreciation of equipment functionality, service requirements and manufacturers’ specifications.
Thorough understanding or regular maintenance requirements.
Knowledge on work order system under Automated EAM system.
Ability to work at heights.
Knowledge of Terminal layout and procedures.
Literacy and numeracy to complete standards forms.
Fitness levels to the Medical Standard.
Residing/ boarded within a close proximity from the Port of Colombo.
A valid heavy vehicle driving license.
Ability to satisfy performance and productivity requirements, including hand/ eye/ foot coordination and visual and auditory standards.
Willing to work roster covering day/night shifts including holidays/weekends assigned in advance.
